We were recently delighted to read confirmation that our Y13 students’ results were the best in the city. Our 2014 A level results were at the top of the league for attainment with an average grade per entry of B- (national average for other state funded schools and colleges, C). In addition to this, 21% of our students gained AAB or better in at least two facilitating subjects – again the best in Sunderland and significantly higher than the national average of 11.9%. Furthermore, our value-added measure for progress also placed us at the top of the city tables, demonstrating that our students made the most progress as measured from the starting point of their GCSE grades. We put these successes down to hard work, commitment and a traditional curriculum and approach to teaching, together with an attention to detail that is deliverable through Grindon Hall’s small class-size, which allows us to focus on the learning of the individual student.
