Curriculum - Senior Curriculum

Lower School - First and Second Form (or Years 7 and 8)

In Lower School, pupils study a wide range of subjects in a carefully designed programme created to instil a love of learning, independent thinking and intellectual curiosity.  Every subject has its own grammar and we aim to embed in pupils' minds the basic building blocks for further learning.  We do not at this stage even begin to think about GCSE, but by acquiring good habits, and thorough knowledge, pupils will be well equipped to begin GCSE courses in the Third Form.  

Upper School - Third, Fourth and Fifth Forms

In Upper School, pupils will study a rigorous programme of GCSE subjects providing a solid base for sixth form study.  Whilst there is some flexibility with regard to subject choices, all pupils will be expected to study a good range of academic subjects, some of which may be optional.

Homework

Each year group will have its own homework timetable and pupils will be given a copy of this at the beginning of the academic year.  All pupils are expected to keep a record of their homework in a School Planner.  This School Planner will also be used by form tutors to record comments.  It should be signed weekly by parents/guardians as well as the form tutor.
