Well done Gaynor! - 19.7.2006
After 3 years of hard work and planning Gaynor Stewart (a sixth form student at Grindon Hall Christian School) has received the Baden Powell Award - one of the highest awards possible for a girl guide of her age. To qualify for the award, Gaynor met a series of objectives – both with her Guide Pack (1st Silksworth) and at school. She organised a sports competition and an international evening – the latter with games, crafts, food and dance. Completing the award necessitated ‘Taking up a new hobby’; Gaynor chose the tenor saxophone and performed publicly with the school’s Jazz Band. Gaynor was bombarded with more new experiences on a school trip to the Lake District, on which she had a go at kayaking and dragon boating.
Before Gaynor embarks on the next girl guide challenge she wants to concentrate on her 4 A level subjects - Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths – in the hope of securing a place at university to study Forensic Science.
