U13 Rugby Tour - March 2008 - 3.3.2008
On Friday 29th February 17 pupils and two members of staff left for Scotland on the first rugby tour undertaken by Grindon Hall.
We travelled by coach to George Watson’s College on Colinton Road, Edinburgh. The weather was far from ideal, strong winds and driving rain. The match took place and considering the conditions the game was of a good standard. We lost 36-7 . Our try came from Lewis Carr converted by David Duke. After the match we were fed and watered by the host side.
We then travelled to our overnight accommodation, a hostel close to the centre of Edinburgh. Before our evening entertainment we all walked the short distance to the Pizza Hut at the Omni Centre. After pizza we arrived at the Edinburgh Playhouse where we watched Disney’s High School Musical which was lively and pupils seemed to enjoy.
In the morning we after a good breakfast we left early for Edinburgh Castle where we undertook a tour and enjoyed a talk about the history of the Castle. We arrived at Merchiston Castle School, changed in to our new sponsored shirts, and took to the field where we played well scoring six tries (Mitchell Coats, Lewis Carr 3, Graham Burns and Ravinder Gill). The final score 38-7 . This was a positive game and pupils played well.
After refreshments we left Edinburgh and arrived back at Grindon at 6pm.
This is the first tour of hopefully more tours in the future.
